As we manage our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety and health of our residents and staff remains our top priority. From the beginning of this health crisis, our actions have been guided by our healthcare professionals and medical directors, in compliance with mandates from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the State and local departments of Health. Our goal is to provide open communication to the greatest degree possible so we can keep residents, families and staff members informed. To that end, we are providing the following resources:

The approval of two vaccines by the Food and Drug Administration for use against COVID-19 is welcome news, but there are still many steps ahead to begin the process of vaccinations in our Springpoint communities. To address the many questions we have received from residents, family members and staff, we have developed this Q & A.

Following is a summary of the key lessons learned by Springpoint and our communities from the COVID-19 pandemic
- Our Residents Inspire Us — the seniors we are privileged to care for are amazing individuals who inspire us with their resilience, grace and spirit. Through their gratitude and words of encouragement, our residents often raised the spirts of the staff as the staff did in kind. In some ways, the shared experience of the pandemic has created a special bond between our staff and residents.
- Our employees are heroes — Our Springpoint heroes spent time away from home, with the residents we are privileged to care for. Our leadership team recognized and acknowledged the sacrifice of the staff through an incentive bonus program and recognition events.
- Education is Essential — Springpoint quickly enacted an educational plan to ensure the safety and health of all of the residents, staff and families based on the outbreak and community level infection rate. We ensure that infection control is a priority in each community and guides our response to the evolving situation.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Procurement — Sourcing and maintaining sufficient stockpiles of PPE for our staff is critical to ensuring continued success in our battle to curb the virus. Springpoint has a dedicated resource focused on PPE procurement and supply chain management to assure that each of community has at least a 90-day supply along with a central bank of additional supply to remain stocked and ready in case of outbreak.
- Communication to all stakeholders is critical to success — From the outset, Springpoint and each community focused on making sure residents, staff and family members alike were kept informed regarding our response to the pandemic and evolving directives from health officials, the ongoing case status and what we were doing to keep our communities safe.
- Importance of Testing and Data — It is critical to have facts on which to base our clinical decisions and effectively guide our care. We recognize that data must drive our clinical decisions and human needs drive our person centered care decisions. Meeting the data-driven quality care standards while maintaining a high-level of human caring is the science and art behind living at a Springpoint community.
Latest Message From Our CEO Anthony Argondizza – 12/9/2020
Dear Residents, Families and Staff:
As we approach the end of the year, I would like to acknowledge the sacrifices that all of you have made in canceling, changing or postponing family gatherings and activities for the protection of yourself and all those around you. While it has been difficult, these measures are essential in our collective effort to prevent further spread of COVID-19. We are grateful for your understanding, cooperation and continued support.
Today, I am writing to share some important updates on our COVID-19 pandemic management and hopeful news regarding the vaccine.
By all indications, we are in a critical phase of the pandemic and we must continue to practice all possible precautions until a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available. We strongly encourage everyone to avoid travel and group gatherings outside of your immediate household and continue to follow all the safety precautions regarding mask-wearing, social distancing and other prevention measures.
The week after Thanksgiving, we began mass testing of all employees throughout the community and that testing continues this week. We decided to increase our testing to proactively identify any potential exposure risks after the holiday. Your Executive Director can provide additional details on the specific testing schedule for your community.
Consistent with the national trend of an increase in active cases, Springpoint is experiencing volatility in COVID-19 case positivity as well. The overall system’s positivity rate, inclusive of residents and employees, is 1.5183% from the most recent round of testing. Our testing results validate the need for continued vigilance. The majority of employees who have recently tested positive for COVID-19 are asymptomatic, meaning that they don’t appear to have any symptoms or fever. Identifying these asymptomatic individuals prevents the further spread of the virus and is a key benefit of our expanded testing strategy. We understand that “testing fatigue” is growing throughout our communities but it is essential to keep us all safe.
Springpoint is closely following the vaccine development, trials, approvals, and distribution plans.
As I am writing this message, the Food and Drug administration has not yet given approval for a COVID-19 vaccine. However, we are putting plans in place so we will be ready when the vaccine is available. Consistent with regulatory guidance, Springpoint has selected CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens to manage distribution and immunization for our residents and employees. It is our expectation that the selected pharmacy will handle all aspects of the vaccination process through onsite clinics at Springpoint communities. There are some indications that the vaccine may become available before the end of this year, so we will be ready to go when it arrives.
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) made its official recommendations on the prioritization of immunization in the United States, providing guidance to state officials, who are expected to quickly finalize and publish specific vaccine distribution plans. We do know that initially there will be an extremely small supply of the vaccine. While the CDC has provided recommendations, there has been no definitive direction yet regarding who will receive the first doses of the vaccine. Please know that we remain engaged and focused on obtaining vaccines as soon as possible.
As more information becomes available, we will promptly share it with you. The news regarding the vaccinations is very encouraging and gives us all something to be grateful for as this unprecedented year comes to a close.
