With the recent opening of Village Point Rehabilitation & Healthcare, Springpoint Senior Living’s newly constructed 87,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art healthcare center on the Monroe Village campus, items from the former healthcare facility became available for donation. For this reason, on Friday, August 17, volunteers from Springpoint met at Monroe Village in Monroe Township, NJ, to help load a shipment of hospital beds and other durable pieces of medical equipment bound for Itando Mission of Hope and Health Care Centre in Kenya, a country in East Africa.
According to David Woodward, Springpoint’s Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, the equipment will be put to great use, helping increase Itando’s inpatient capacity for maternal and child health care. Women will be able to receive care in a comfortable bed rather than deliver their babies on a metal stretcher or receive pre- and post-natal care on the floor. Their comfort, care, quality of life and recovery will all improve thanks to the donation from Springpoint.
Opened in 2011, Itando Mission of Hope and Health Care Centre is a non-profit health facility based in Kenya’s Vihiga County that offers primary health care. A collaborative welfare project, Itando is owned by Mudavadi Memorial Foundation of Kenya and Sananda Foundation of Spain; the organization will handle the shipment of goods to Kenya. Woodward thanked his colleagues from The Atrium at Navesink Harbor—Director of Health Services LuAnn DellaPietro and Executive Director Michael Gentile—for identifying a charitable organization in need of beds and medical equipment.
